James Evans
James Evans, Max Palevsky Professor, Department of Sociology

Professor Evans focuses on the collective system of thinking and knowing involving human and intelligent systems and agents. He is especially interested in innovation—how new ideas and practices emerge—and the role that social and technical institutions (e.g., AI, the Internet, markets, collaborations) play in evolving collective cognition and discovery.

Marc Berman, Professor and Chair, Department of Psychology

Professor Berman studies the relationship between individual psychological and neural processing and environmental factors. His work incorporates brain imaging, behavioral experimentation, computational neuroscience and statistical models to quantify the person, the environment and their interactions. He is using AI to quantify human judgments on millions of stimuli such as quantifying disorder, aesthetic value and safety for every few meters of entire cities.
